Looking for someone to capture the spirit of your yorkie in pictures.
I completely recommend Amy Martz.

1. My dogs ears are floppy, how can I make sure they stand?
Some puppies ears stand on their own, however there are puppies who will need a bit of coaxing to make them stand. Here are some ways to help.
A. Shave the hair off both outside and inside of the ear. Trim close, but be careful not to cut them.
B. You can try using tape. I use masking tape, about 2-3 inches wide. First I trim the hair, then I apply the masking tape, 1 pc in the front, another in the back and tape together. See the picture.
Leave this on for 3 days, and then take off, if the ears are standing, great, if not, then do it
again, leaving on for a day or two more. Be patient, these things take time.
What color will my yorkie be when he/she is full grown?
Well as you probably know all standard Yorkshire Terriers are born black and tan/gold.
but they do change. You can usually tell if his/her coloring will change by looking at their roots.
As you can see in the pictures of my dogs, both my girls are blue and tan.
but of course born black and tan. Lilly changed very fast and I could tell when she was 8 weeks old that
she was going to take after her mother (Bell).
Bell on the other hand didn't change until she was 10 months. Her hair was getting lighter, but I didn't really
notice until I had her groomed. I thought she wasn't my dog when I picked she up. The black was almost completely gone
and she was blue.
I want to Stud out my boy, How do I go about it?
First, I'm not going to try to persuade you not to use your boy for a stud, that is totally up to you and the owner of the bitch. Here are some things to think about when trying to decided if this is for you and him.
1. Is you boy a good representation of the breed?
2. Has he been health checked?
2. DNA on record with the kennel club?
These are only the logical things to do.
Then you have to think about how this will affect his personality, He most likely will never be able to be around "other females again" He will most likely be marking everything, even if he has never marked anything before, he will probably whine and cry whenever there is a in heat female within smelling distance. (a friend of mine's stud dog marked the wall by her front door so often that she had to have the sheet rock taken down and replaced)
If you have females in your house, you can either expect to board him for 2 weeks every time you don't want a litter, or keep one of them caged so you don't have those unexpected pregnancies. But expect the whining all night long. (to me this is the worst, so I board my boy, it does get expense, I have two girls)
But maybe these things won't happen to you, maybe your boy will be the perfect stud, and if you decide that this is what you want to do, I wish you the very best of luck.
